General Description

The special Lancia-type front suspension includes in one unit, a coil spring, a telescopic damper & the means of rotation for the front wheels, mounted on the end of a beam axle.

This system, which was similar to that on the Morgan, was first introduced on the Lambda in 1921 & was fitted to all Lancia cars up to the early Flaminias when it was abandoned about 1961.

The following 4 diagrams from Ref.8 show variations in the system as applied to B20 Aurelias. Note the break in design late in the 3rd Series B20, after which there was no filler-plug for the bottom of the suspension unit until the 4th series started.
